HOW TO PACIFY STRESS WITH YOUR FAMILY

Sometimes it happens that we’ve got more stress – from the people we’re counting on. If you are experiencing stress from your family, you are not alone. 

Here are a few tips to help you pacify stress with your loved ones. If you’ve got a trip planned, these easy tips can help you keep stress out of summer vacation.

Practice Pacifying

As tempting as it is to ‘be right, try out something else. Practice pacifying. 

You may be used to thinking of a ‘pacifier’ as the little thing you put in a baby’s mouth. In many ways, this is an accurate image. 

A pacifier isn’t a long-term solution. However, it does help move past a sticky moment. It can relieve stress. It can help you focus on feeling happy.

This is what you can practice – even with older children, spouses, in-laws, and parents. Practice finding something to ease the moment, relax the tension, and encourage flow. It may not feel easy or natural at first. After all, we all have a lot of practice in being right. However, when you want to get better at a skill, it helps to practice.

Find Something You Appreciate

While our loved ones are driving us nuts at the moment, there is usually more to be seen, heard, or understood. 

One of the fastest ways to get out of a tight spot with a relative is this: appreciation. Find something that you appreciate. You may have to do some inner stretching to connect with this, but you can find it. 

If your brother-in-law is hypercritical, appreciate his perceptiveness. If your sister is a drama queen, appreciate her sensitivity. If your cousin is a perfectionist, appreciate her attention to detail.

As you know, this requires your true creativity and insight. Don’t just pretend to do this. Do it for real, and you are likely to see a completely different side of the person. Plus, you won’t feel consumed with frustration, anger, or irritation.

Find Something You Love

Do you feel stressed during family events and vacations? You could require a hobby or personal passion. Having something you love doing is a great way to boost your mood. This may be in a wide range of interests. 

For example, you may feel passionate about creativity. You could love painting, drawing, or sewing. Perhaps your creativity is in the kitchen – baking, cooking, and developing new recipes. 

Or you love to learn. You may feel magnetically drawn to meditate, study, or delve deep into a new topic. You may have the inner craving to learn more languages, try calligraphy, or practice a musical instrument.

When you find something you love, you’ll have a way to recharge and renew your energy. You won’t feel so stressed or reliant on what other people think. 

Many people find that having something they love gives them a sense of meaning and purpose. There is no single right or wrong ‘thing’ that fulfills this category. However, when you find it, you will have a happy feeling. 

Get Emergency Money Elsewhere

Sometimes it’s tough to talk about money with family members. There may be a lot of history with your loved ones – making it difficult to be open and transparent.
